ARTES 5G/HAS
Improvements to 5G throughput and efficiency using User Equipment (UE) with Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS)
Aims
The main objective of the project is to investigate whether improved positioning and timing information provided by the Galileo High Accuracy Service (HAS) can enhance the performance of 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) user equipment.
Brief Description
The project investigates the integration of Galileo HAS into a 5G NTN user equipment (UE). A prototype UE will be developed by combining a commercial GNSS receiver supporting Galileo HAS with a custom 5G NTN hardware platform. The prototype will be used to evaluate the impact of high-accuracy GNSS positioning and timing on 5G NTN communication performance, with particular focus on data throughput. Comparative tests will assess the potential benefits of Galileo HAS over conventional GNSS.
