Drones

UAVs and eVTOLs

The drone industry is rapidly growing and will continue to expand in the future, likewise in-process stringent regulations for the validation and certification of drones. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) make various applications easier, such as commercial delivery, mapping and search & rescue, making the availability of safe and reliable GNSS not only essential, but a necessary asset.

OHB Austria offers several shaped solutions for quality testing navigation and for ensuring the integrity and reliability of GNSS signals, by 24/7 real-time monitoring for interference detection and mitigation, which can be tailored to your specific needs.

The drone industry is continuously developing stringent quality standards for component manufacturing and testing, due to the increasing demand of civil, commercial, military drones. Drones most be tested under specific conditions including GNSS-denied, jammed or spoofed environments. OHB helps you meet quality standards that rely on GNSS testing, allowing the replay of scenarios and a wide variety of test environments, which would be highly expensive, hazardous and sometimes impossible to evaluate in real life.

Our Solutions:

Ongoing technological advances, such as navigation with GNSS and sensor fusion, allow pilots to fly their aircraft beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS), thus opening the option of autopilot. To ensure reliable navigation, drones must go through rigorous testing, that are almost impossible to reliably replicate in a physical, field testing. Therefore, we offer Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for real time testing of drone flight, shortening test times and increasing reliability and coverage of testing.

Our Solutions:

Specific and certified drones such as drones flying BVLOS, delivering packages, operating as air taxi, etc. All operations involving higher levels of risk, where reliable positioning is non-negotiable to ensure human’s safety and to perform flawlessly in an unpredictable world; a trust-worthy navigation system is required. Therefore, we offer an integrated solution to your drones in order to determine if the GNSS signals that are being received by the receiver are reliable or if your system should switch to INS (Inertial Navigation System). As well as a testing system for those receivers involved in high-risk operations.
